L'Atelier Parfum x CleanHub

BECAUSE LIFE IS MORE BEAUTIFUL ON A HEALTHY PLANET

In many industries, it’s still impossible to completely eliminate plastics due to the lack of viable alternatives. This is especially true for components like the pumps in our bottles or the inserts in certain caps. But rather than waiting for the perfect solution, we’ve chosen to take action now by partnering with CleanHub. Together, we will prevent 5,000 kg of non-recyclable plastic from reaching the oceans by recovering it directly from the environment.

To stop plastic pollution at its source, it is essential to significantly increase collection rates in high-risk areas like Southeast Asia. CleanHub relies on a network of collection hubs in the region, which not only helps develop local waste management infrastructure but also raises awareness within communities and creates dignified jobs.

OUR PARTNERSHIP

From the beginning, our brand has been built around four pillars: quality, sustainability, traceability, and safety. This commitment now leads us to take a stand against the plastic crisis.

In addition to removing all superfluous plastic from our packaging, this year we are committed to collecting 5,000 kg of non-recyclable plastic in the most affected regions of Southeast Asia. This represents around 16 times our current plastic footprint—a step that goes far beyond simple offsetting, aiming instead to create a truly positive impact on our planet.

WHY THIS COMMITMENT MATTERS TO US

Current recycling systems are unable to keep up with the pace of global plastic production. Only recyclable plastics—like bottles—are actually collected, because they have economic value. Non-recyclable plastics, on the other hand, are often abandoned, burned, buried... or end up in the ocean.

Today, 80% of marine debris is made up of non-recyclable materials, and over 90% of that waste has sunk to inaccessible depths. It is urgent that we address this invisible and overlooked part of the plastic pollution problem.

WHAT IS CLEANHUB?

To prevent plastic from reaching the ocean, CleanHub operates where the leakage is greatest. Their mission is to empower local communities to regain control of their waste management through incentive-based systems, reliable standards, and programs that promote local entrepreneurship.

Plastic recovery follows three key steps: collection, sorting by plastic type, and safe final processing. This structured process ensures measurable and lasting impact.

A CALL TO THE BEAUTY INDUSTRY

The global beauty industry is among the largest polluters when it comes to plastic packaging. Each year, it generates 120 billion units of packaging—most of which are non-recyclable. It also contributes to the loss of 18 million acres of forest.

95% of cosmetic packaging is thrown away after a single use. Only 14% actually makes it into a recycling system; the rest ends up in landfills.

The luxury beauty market in particular continues to use unnecessary secondary packaging and single-use plastics.

We’ve decided to act. What about you?
